On the November 5th episode of Need to Know, terrorism and foreign policy expert Christopher Boucek appeared on the program to talk about the current state of the United States efforts to be safe from terrorism. His newest book is one he co-authored, covering Yemen and it’s challenges with terrorism, religious extremism and political destabilization.
On the September 3rd episode of PBS’ Need to Know their author segment was with Charlaine Harris with whom Alison Stewart discussed the current popuatiry of vampires. Ms. Harris is most well known as the author of the Sookie Stackhouse books which are being adapted as the television show True Blood on HBO.
On the August 27 episode of Need to Know, public health reporter for the New York TimesGardiner Harris appeared on their “Newsmaker Interview” segment discussing the egg recall. Harris’ newest book is his first novel, a story of coal miners faced with a disaster.
Here at EBFTV, we continue to look for new programs to cover with these blog posts. This week I turned up a new one, the PBS program Need to Know. As of this week, it has been added to our regular routine to look for author appearances and future episodes will be covered.
On the August 20th episode, one segment featured teacher and novelist Gary Shteyngart. His writing has been featured in The New Yorker, The New York Times, Slate and many other publications. His newest novel is a satirical look at a dystopic near-future and a sharp commentary on life in the information age.
