On the August 29th episode of Meet the Press, the show was devoted to the five year anniversary of the landfall of Hurricane Katrina. Part of the show was devoted to a panel to discuss the reaction to it, which included author and history professor Douglas Brinkley. In 2006, he published one of the early books examining Hurricane Katrina and the subsequent flooding of New Orleans as a historical event – covering the period of August 27 until September 3, 2005 in exacting detail at book length.
